Belmont Volleyball (now Penisula Juniors) was formed in Belmont in 1997 with one 16 and Under Area League Team that finished 1st in the NCVA Area League. The club remains relatively small, but has a tradition of fielding very competitive teams in both the NCVA Area and Power Leagues. We accept qualified players from all junior and senior high schools from San Francisco and on the San Francisco peninsula.
In an effort to better reflect the area the club encompasses, the Belmont Volleyball Board of Directors changed the club name to Peninsula Juniors in 2001.
The picture above is our 2003 14's Elite team who ranked 5th in the 14's Power League division. The 14's Elite players also received a bid to play in JO's and spent a week in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 2003, we have 2 Elite Power teams and 6 Area League teams who competed in both Area League and Special NCVA sponsored tournaments such as the President's Day Tourney and Junior Far Westerns National Qualifier. Most of our teams ranked in the top 10% of the Area League or in the Gold, Silver, or Bronze division of the Power League.
In 2001, our 14's Elite team ranked 10th of 79 teams and our 14's Gold team took first place in the division.
To the left is our 14's Area League team who took first place in the 14's division at the Youth Volleyball Tournament in 2000. They also took first place in the Area League division.
In the 2000 season our 17 and Under team finished 8th in the NCVA Gold division
Pictured is, former Belmont setter, Amanda Thompson, setting to Allison Hoff, also a former Belmont player.
Amanda was the starting setter for her school team and our 2000 17's team. This team took second in Silver in the Pacfic Northwest National Qualifier and took first place in the Silver division in the Junior Far Western Qualifier.
Some of our players have gone on to coaching club and high school teams.
